Mohr demoted

With David Wells returning to the active roster to make tonight’s start, outfielder Dustin Mohr was optioned to Pawtucket to make room.

Red Sox manager Terry Francona said the team will have to make another move in a
couple of days to accommodate the activation of Coco Crisp, who will make another rehab start in Pawtucket tomorrow night and could rejoin the Red Sox early in the next road trip.

Crisp, in an extended spring training game today in Fort Myers, went 2 for 6 with a home run and played center field.

Red Sox outfielder Gabe Kapler is expected to go on a rehab assignment in Fort Myers early next week.


Pitching coach Dave Wallace visited with Francona at Fenway this afternoon and will have his hip-replacement surgery next Thursday at Mass. General.

First base coach Bill Haselman is scheduled to return tonight after missing the last three games for family reasons.
