Did you see that catch Coco made? That phrase drew ridicule last year when it was part of NESN’s promos, but it was apt tonight.
Coco Crisp just robbed Todd Walker and possibly prevented a big inning for the A’s. Walker, pinch-hitting for Ryan Langerhans with runners at the corners, sent what looked like a base hit to center field, but Crisp made a tremendous back-handed diving snag. Coco is having a big night. He’s 1 for 2 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored, in addition to the Web Gem. This is the guy the Sox thought they were getting from Cleveland.
Curt Schilling obviously appreciated the effort. He held the ball behind the pitcher’s mound after Travis Buck scored and pointed to Crisp. Schilling then got out of the inning, inducing a ground out to second and a pop out to first. Sox lead, 4-2, at the seventh inning stretch.
