Markakis homers

BALTIMORE – Nick Markakis’ 18th homer has tied this one, 2-2 in the sixth.

The Sox squandered a chance to attach a run or two in the top of the inning, but a couple of strange base-running decisions by Kevin Youkilis cost the Sox.

Youkilis didn’t slide into second on a stolen base/hit and run with Jason Varitek, but made it. But when Coco Crisp laid down a sacrifice bunt, Youkilis was thrown out at third standing. Twice, he failed to slide.

Jeremy Gutherie had to leace the game 2-2 on Varitek in the sixth. No word yet on why. Yesterday Guthrie had to leave the ballpark early because he was ill.
