As I was skulking around the home clubhouse after the Blue Jays took batting practice, waiting for Vernon Wells to show up, I noticed something. In the display case in the clubhouse, which houses memorabilia from the Jays’ two World Series titles, in 1992 and 1993, plus Sports Illustrated covers and mementos from Wells and Roy Halladay’s Cy Young season, there are two replicas of the World Series trophies the team won.
One, the one for 1992, is intact. The other, for 1993, is missing something. One of the flags that ring the base is missing.
Guess which one…
Yup, it’s the Red Sox flag. The missing triangle was stuffed behind the trophy, as if to hide it. Doubt that’s a recent development, but funny nonetheless.
