Josh Beckett has given up a lot of hard-hit balls this evening, the most recent coming on a homer to dead center by rookie Garrett Jones. It was only the second homer of Jones’s major league career, but it traveled a long way. Beckett got out of the inning by striking out Matthew LeCroy on a curve and getting Brian Buscher to pop out to third.
Sox trail by two as we head to the bottom of the sixth and Beckett has thrown 99 pitches. That might be it for him. Minnesota has gone to their bullpen (Boof went poof!) in the sixth, with righty Juan Rincon on the hill.
