Roger done for good?

NEW YORK – We have probably seen the last of Roger Clemens.

He limped off the mound with one out in the third after striking out Victor Martinez, received a standing ovation and went off into the clubhouse. Clemens had been shut down on Sept. 16 with a sore hamstring after beating the Red Sox and had been cleared to start last night in Game 3. But it was evident Clemens didn;’t have the ability to push off as he’s accustomed.

Clemens left the game trailing 2-0. with what was announced as a strained left hamstring. Trot Nixon hit a 2-0 fastball for a home run on the top of the right field wall in the second and he allowed what should have been un unearned run in the first when Derek Jeter threw Asdrubal Cabrera’s ground ball wide of first. It was a ruled a hit on a very generous scoring decision. Ryan Garko knocked in the run.

After Clemens left,,the Yankees went to young right-hander Phillip Hughes, who threw a wild pitch to advance on Travis Hafner to second base. Hafner scored on Johnny Peralta’s double to right field.

It’s 3-0 Indians heading into the bottom of the third.
