It’s 6-0 in the sixth here. Clay Buchholz was touched for three runs in the first, giving up back to back home runs to Justin Morneau (two-run) and Craig Monroe on consecutive pitches. He retired the last seven batters he faced and had good stuff; his mistakes came up in the zone.
Jonathan Papelbon gave up a couple runs in the fourth, one of two innings he pitched, and Javy Lopez just gave up a run in the sixth.
The story here was Francisco Liriano, pitching in a game for the first time in over a year after having Tommy John surgery. He walked a batter in the first, and gave up two-out singles to Sean casey and Keith Ginter in the second before being lifted, having reached his 40-pitch limit.
Dustin Pedroia has made a couple of terrific plays, with diving stops to both his left and right. Argenis Diaz, the kid shortstop, also showed some nice range and a strong arm on a diving play to his left.
