Curt Schilling will have his right shoulder examined tomorrow in Boston by Dr. Thomas Gill. According to manager Terry Francona, Schilling has reached a “plateau” in his comeback and has been told to shut it down for a while. “It’s been a frustrating week for him,” Francona said…

Francona reported that David Ortiz had a good day with his range of motion exercises back in Boston. Ortiz has had the cast removed on his left wrist and has three different splints he wears in its place. Francona said Gill and the Sox medical team remain optimistic about Ortiz’s return to the lineup though they are shying away from any timetable….


Kevin Youkilis was to miss another game with back spasms but Francona hoped to see Youkilis in the lineup by Friday. Youkilis thought he could play tomorrow afternoon in the series finale….

Manny Ramirez has 10 career homers vs. tonight’s starter, Jamie Moyer. That’s the most by one active hitter against an active pitcher. Luis Gonzalez also has 10 vs. Greg Maddux and Frank Thomas has nine vs. Mike Mussina…

Daiuske Matsuzaka was back with the team today after pitching five innings for Pawtucket vs. the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs….
