Sox strike first

He’s elderly in baseball terms but the still effective 44-year-old Randy Johnson, who has pitched one year longer than I’ve been alive (I’m 21), gave up his two hits and the first run of the night in the second inning as the Red Sox took their first lead, 1-0.

The inning started with back-to-back hits by Mike Lowell (a single up the middle) and Coco Crisp (a double to deep center). After a Kevin Cash flyout, Brandon Moss hit a sacrifice grounder to score Lowell and advance Crisp to third.

Crisp was left on base when Jacoby Ellsbury grounded out.
