BALTIMORE – Boston is going through its bullpen.
After Clay Buchholz lasted 2-1/3 innings, allowing three hits, five runs, David Aardsma, Javier Lopez and now Mike Timlin have appeared. We’re in the bottom of the fifth.
Buchholz lost his seventh straight decision, the longest streak by a Sox pitcher since Frank Castillo lost eight straight June 19-Sept.16, 2002.
A pair of three-run homers by Ramon Hernandez in the third and Melvin Mora in the fourth have broken this open for the O’s. Jason Bay answered with a solo shot, his 26th of the season with two outs in the fifth.
It’s 10-5 Orioles.
It’s a good thing the Sox have a day off tomorrow to rest everyone. It didn’t help that Daisuke Matsuzaka lasted only five innings.
