Sox send Vaughan to Texas

The Red Sox have sent righthanded reliever Beau Vaughan to the Texas Rangers to complete an earlier trade for reliever Wes Littleton.

Vaughn, who will turn 28 in June, was 2-1 with a 2.12 ERA and 16 saves last season at Double A Portland. After a late-season promotion to Triple A Pawtucket, he went 1-1 with a 3.18 ERA. Overall, he struck out 69 in 58 innings.

Vaughn was selected by the Red Sox out of Arizona State in the third round of the 2003 draft — one round before they selected Jonathan Papelbon.
