Lineups, with Youk back in

NEW YORK — Though Kevin Youkilis was ill enough yesterday with “intestinal turmoil,” as manager Terry Francona put it, the first baseman is back in the lineup today. Francona said Youkilis wanted to get a couple of at bats in today in anticipation of Monday’s opener.

Though Jacoby Ellsbury isn’t in the lineup, he’s expected to get a couple of at bats. This way, with Rocco Baldelli in the starting lineup, Baldelli can face the lefty Oliver Perez instead of having him come up against a righty later in the game.

Daisuke Matsuzaka is expected to throw about 75 pitches, hopefully in approximately five innings.

There are a few notes on various players. Brad Wilkerson is expected to go to Triple A, though nothing is official. As for injury updates, Julio Lugo will probably be close to ready for a rehab stint after the team’s West Coast road trip. He will probably head to Florida for extended spring training instead of going straight to an affiliate. Mark Kotsay is swinging in the cage and doing flips. He will be examined after the road trip and will likely be close to ready to start his progression toward returning to the club.
