Outfielder Rocco Baldelli has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, and first baseman/outfielder Jeff Bailey has been recalled from Pawtucket to take his spot on the 25-man roster.
Baldelli left the Red Sox’ victory over the Orioles yesterday before the top of the fourth inning with a mild left hamstring strain. The inning before, Baldelli had made it to third base on an error by right fielder Nick Markakis, who overran a fly ball and had it bounce off his glove. Coming around second, Baldelli aggravated an injury that kept him out of the lineup last Wednesday.
Bailey, 30, who lost a battle with Chris Carter for one of the final roster spots this spring, was batting .255 with four homers in 47 at-bats at Pawtucket this season.
