Ill Remy flies home

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Beloved NESN announcer Jerry Remy will miss at least the remainder of this road trip with an illness, the symptoms of which are the same as those that kept him sidelined for the outset of spring training. Remy will fly home to Boston from Tampa tomorrow and might return for Wednesday’s game against the Cleveland Indians at Fenway Park. Best wishes to Remy from us.

Buck Martinez will fill in for Remy tonight, as he did for last night’s 13-0 Red Sox loss to the Rays. Martinez usually works for TBS and MASN, the local broadcasting channel for the Baltimore Orioles.
