Michael Bowden carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning and lost it when he allowed an RBI double with two outs after a walk. He outdueled rehabbing major leaguer Dontrelle Willis, who alllowed five hits and two runs in 7 2/3 innings. Chip Ambres went 2 for 3 with two doubles and a run. Angel Chavez went 1 for 3 with a solo home run. Daniel Bard recorded a four-out save with four strikeouts, allowing one hit. He lowered his ERA to 1.13, and has 29 strikeouts in 16 innings. Opponents are batting .115 off of him, and he’s given up five walks and six hits.

Bubba Bell went 2 for 5 with a double and two runs. Aaron Bates went 2 for 4 with two RBI. Junichi Tazawa allowed one run on six hits and a walk while striking out three in six innings. He earned his third win and dropped his ERA to 3.34. T.J. Large earned his second save by retiring the final out in the ninth, lowering his ERA to 0.71.

David Mailman went 2 for 4 with a run and a double. Zach Gentile went 2 for 4. Starter Stolmy Pimental allowed one earned run in five innings on nine hits and a walk while striking out five. The Drive struck out 14 times, led by Mitch Dening’s three.
