Lugo’s injury

SEATTLE — It should be minor, but Julio Lugo came out of tonight’s game in the middle of the seventh inning with a hip flexor/groin issue. He was replaced by Gil Velazquez.

“When he first came up to me, he thought it was his groin,” manager Terry Francona said. “I think it’s more of a hip flexor. I’m not sure I know what the difference is. I don’t think it’s anything, but he came up to me and he goes, ‘I know we’re short, but this is grabbing at me a little bit.’ We brought him up and got some ice on him. We’ll re-evaluate him in the morning, but with a day off the next day we’ll probably try to stay away tomorrow.”
