Game Over

PHILADELPHIA – Just one of those bad games here at Citizens Bank Park that you forget about and move on to bigger and better things Tuesday at Fenway against the Florida Marlins. The Red Sox took two out three but couldn’t get the sweep.

Sox lose it 11-6. They had nine hits and committed two errors and a misplayed ball by Rocco Baldelli in right field which really cost the Red Sox and Josh Beckett in the fifth inning.

Baldelli and Nick Green homered back-to-back in the second inning when the Sox scored four of their six runs. Beckett also homered in the sixth to tie the game at 5-5. But Jimmy Rollins’ solo shot off Beckett in the 7th gave Philly a 6-5 lead. Young Daniel Bard came on and added some fuel to the fire while Lugo, who reached base three times and also had a sac fly, made a poor throw trying to turn a potential double-play which didn’t help Bard’s cause. Takashi Saito also had a miserable outing – hitting Rollins with a pitch to force in a run and then walking in another.

The Red Sox made some noise in the top of the ninth when Mike Lowell and Nick Green singled with two outs, but George Kottaras flied out to left field to end the game.
