Ramirez falls to sixth in All-Star balloting

Looks like Manny Ramirez will strike out in his improbable bid to make the National League All-Star team.

The suspended Dodgers slugger has dropped to sixth among National League outfielders in the latest fan balloting for the All-Star Game according to voting results released today.

Philadelphia’s Raul Ibanez leads NL outfielders with 1,897,905 votes. He is followed by Milwaukee’s Ryan Braun (1,667,029) and the Mets’ Carlos Beltran (1,367,412). The Cubs’ Alfonso Soriano (1,340,669) is fourth.

Ramirez, who was hitting .348 with six home runs and 20 RBIs before he was suspended May 7 for violating baseball’s drug policy, was fifth in the balloting last week. But he was passed by Philadelphia’s Shane Victorino, who has 1,116,524 votes. Ramirez is sixth at 999,800.

He is eligible to return July 3. The All-Star Game is July 14 in St. Louis.
