Lefty Obama throws out first pitch

ST. LOUIS – President Obama, a lefthander, threw out the first pitch to Albert Pujols capping off an emotional and eventful pregame ceremony at Busch Stadium prior to the start of the All-Star game.

Obama received mostly cheers as he ran in from right field and took the mound sporting a White Sox jacket and jeans.

Prior to that Stan “The Man” Musial was driven near the field in a golf cart reminiscent of the Red Sox-Ted Williams celebration in the 1999 All-Star game in Boston. Joe Torre, a long-time friend and admirer of Musial, gave the Cardinal icon a big hug.

Prior to that the All-Stars Among Us, brought a tear to many in the stands for their extraordinary service to making peoples lives better. The group was honored on the field where players from the American and National Leagues shook their hands and thanked them for their service. Five living presidents participated in a video paying tribute to these extraordinary people who go above and beyond to help others.
