Jed Lowrie and Dusty Brown will be added to the Red Sox roster for tonight’s game. The news was first reported by the Providence Journal.
Lowrie began the year as the Red Sox starting shortstop, but he has played 19 major league games and 26 minor league games during a frustrating season derailed by left wrist surgery and ensuing complications. In his latest rehab with the PawSox, Lowrie is 5 for 30 since Aug. 25 with a double and two home runs.
Brown, a catcher, made a quick cameo with the Red Sox this season. He appeared in one game as a defensive replacement.
