Here we are at Logan Airport waiting for a flight to Orange County. Unfortunately it is via Minneapolis as that greatly increases the odds of running into a liquored-up Miguel Cabrera.
If you don’t recognize my name, there’s a good reason. I started at the Globe yesterday after working nearly 10 years at The Journal News of White Plains, N.Y. I spent the last four seasons covering the dreaded Yankees and the three years before that on the dreadful Mets
But this is home. I’m from New Bedford, went to UMass-Amherst and virtually every person I’m related to and grew up with lives in New England. It’s good to be back, if only for the coffee milk, linguica and creative driving skills.
My new gig is a hybrid. I’m going to be doing a lot of blogging for Boston.com and helping out Amalie Benjamin, our excellent beat writer, with the coverage for the paper. I did a blog at my old place — the oddly named LoHud Yankees Blog — that was fun and the plan is to have some more fun here.

As for the Sox, they’re working out this afternoon at Angel Stadium at 7 p.m. EDT. I won’t get there in time, but Amalie and Adam Kilgore will be on the scene and I’m sure we’ll have some updates here later on.
Who do you like in the Tigers-Twins game? Has to be Minnesota — but Rick Porcello is capable of shutting down that offense.
