Extra Bases

Angels wary of Ellsbury

Much has been made about the Angels being 15 of 17 stealing bases against the Red Sox this season. But Los Angeles has to concern itself with Jacoby Ellsbury, who led the majors with 70 steals.

“The bottom line is we need to keep him off the bases and if he does get on, our pitchers have to pay attention to him,” Angels catcher Mike Napoli said a few minutes ago. “The guy is a threat and he seems to be getting better at it every time you see him.”

Ellsbury was 3 for 6 in stolen base attempts against the Angels this year.

The Angels are on the field stretching now after being available to the media for 45 minutes in their clubhouse. Torii Hunter, a Hall of Fame nice guy, was holding court around his locker and cracking jokes.

Meanwhile Vladimir Guerrero strolled around the clubhouse wearing a Superman t-shirt. You have to be a good player to pull that off and he certainly is.
