NLCS Game 5 updates

UPDATE, 11:41 p.m.: The Phillies lead 10-4 with Brad Lidge on the mound. The Series is secure. Beware AL: The Phillies have won 12 of their 13 postseason home game, outscoring the opposition by 44 runs.

UPDATE, 10:48 p.m.: Shane Victorino’s blast into the left-field stands makes it 8-3 and the crowd here is sensing a pennant. The Phillies also have discovered some pitching sanity, having retired eight straight Dodgers.

UPDATE, 10:23 p.m.: So I came to cover the NLCS and an AL East game broke out. It’s the bottom of the fifth inning and the game has been going for two hours and 15 minutes. Five pitching changes, five home runs, 6-3 Phillies.

Pedro could be in before too long. The Phillies need length from somebody to try and get to Madson and Lidge.

UPDATE, 10:06 p.m.: It appears Joe Girardi is calling in suggestions to both managers. Charlie Manuel pulled Hamels in the fifth inning with a three-run lead and is onto his onto his second reliever of the inning.

UPDATE, 9:54 p.m.: Phillies 6-3 in the top of the fifth inning. A desperate Joe Torre just used his set-up man, George Sherrill, in the fourth inning. He hit a batter to force in a run, however. But pinch hitter Orlando Hudson just homered to give the Dodgers a glimmer of hope.

There have been five home runs so far.

UPDATE, 9:25 p.m.: 5-2 Phillies on an RBI double by Ibanez and Padilla is out of the game. Looks like the World Series is going to be a I-95 special.

UPDATE, 8:57 p.m.: Another home run, this one by Pedro Feliz. Phillies 4-2. Dodgers can’t go much longer with Padilla. They had Kershaw warming up.

It’s the middle of the second inning here at Citizens Bank Bandbox and there have been three home runs.

Andre Ethier and James Loney have solo shots for the Dodgers but Jayson Werth had a three-run HR for the Phillies and they lead 3-2. All three balls went to right field.

If the Phillies meet the Yankees and the weather cooperates, there could be all sorts of World Series home run records set. The ball flies at both parks.
