Yankees bounce back, lead 5-3

Cole Hamels took a no-hitter into the fourth inning. He was out of the game in the fifth.

Alex Rodriguez, who had been 0 for the Series, lined a two-run homer off a camera in right field in the fourth inning. Then the Yankees scored three more runs in the fifth inning as Andy Pettitte had an RBI single and Johnny Damon a two-run double.

It was a classic case of a lineup getting to a pitcher the second time through the order.

It was the first RBI for a Yankees pitcher in the World Series since Jim Bouton in 1964 against the Cardinals.

Pettitte, meanwhile, has retired 11 of the last 12 batters he has faced. We’re in the top of the sixth in what is going to be a late night at Citizens Bank Park.
