You knew this was coming. ESPN has grabbed the Yankees-Red Sox game to open the season. It will be played Sunday, April 4 at 8 p.m. It was originally going to be Monday afternoon.
The teams would then have two days off before playing the second game of the series on Wednesday.
Lester vs. Sabathia, Beckett vs. Burnett, Lackey vs. Pettitte. That sounds about right. Mike Cameron is 6 of 13 against Sabathia, by the way. That platoon of he and Hermida could pay off quickly.
Yes, I’m wildly speculating.
UPDATE, 5:06 p.m.: MLB is discussing changing the schedule for the rest of that series so the teams don’t have two days off following the opener. Makes sense.
