What of Mike Lowell?

Theo Epstein said today that he could see how the Mike Lowell situation could seem awkward from the outside. But he called it something, “that will take care of itself.”

Epstein has spoken to Lowell’s agents, Seth and Sam Levinson, and they agree on one thing: The priority now is for the third baseman to get healthy following thumb surgery and show that he can play.

Epstein said the priority then would be to place Lowell in the right situation, whether that is in Boston or somewhere else.

You can be sure that the Red Sox will will take the first opportunity they can to trade Lowell, both for his sake and theirs. He deserves a chance to play somewhere else and the last thing the Sox want is for fans screaming for Lowell to come off the bench every time Adrian Beltre goes 0 for 4 and strikes out twice.
