9:45 p.m., End of game, Rays 7, Red Sox 0
The Sox lost for the second time today, both losses coming on shutouts. Junichi Tazawa was responsible for the final three runs scored by the Rays in this one, all of them coming in the eighth inning.
9:17 p.m., Bottom of the eighth, Rays 4, Red Sox 0
Apologies for the lack of updates this evening. I’ve been a bit consumed with the Ryan Westmoreland situation tonight. I can tell you that the fourth run scored for the Rays in the seventh inning, allowed by Jorge Sosa. Junichi Tazawa is now in the game to pitch for the Sox.
8:11 p.m., Top of the fifth, Rays 3, Red Sox 0
Boof Bonser had a bit of a tough inning, as the Rays scored three runs, all with two outs. The big blow was a two-run single for Gabe Kapler.
7:47 p.m., Top of the fourth, Red Sox 0, Rays 0
Make that 2-for-2 for Ortiz, who just dropped one into right field.
7:40 p.m., Bottom of the third, Red Sox 0, Rays 0
Still no score in this one, but we did see another good moment from David Ortiz. The DH went the other way, singling to left field in the second inning. Mike Cameron also singled in the inning, but the Sox weren’t able to make anything of it.
6:54 p.m., Pregame
John Farrell has been spotted, which means the pitching coach and manager Terry Francona both made it to Port Charlotte from Kissimmee in time for first pitch of their second game of the day. Impressive work.
