Injury for Bonser?

Boof Bonser told the coaches when he came out that his right groin was “grabbing” when he was pitching.

Terry Francona said he did not know the extent of the injury. But groin injuries often get pitchers shut down because the fear is they’ll overtax their arm while protecting their legs. For Bonser, who had shoulder surgery a year ago, that fear would be pronounced.

So perhaps the Sox will stash Bonser on the disabled list then see where’s he at after the season starts.

Francona seemed a little peeved at how the team has played in recent days — the Sox have lost eight of nine — and spoke about the need to play “clean baseball” over the last two weeks.
