Notes: The Sox have lost four straight and nine of their last 10 and have given up 68 runs in those games. If this happened during the regular season they would have to declare martial law and suspended the right of habeas corpus. … Josh Beckett will be facing the Pirates at McKechnie Field for the second time in six days. He allowed four runs on six hits and two walks over 3.1 innings the last time coming off an illness. He is expected to be much sharper today, having gone through his usual routine. … The Sox after today have 10 exhibition games left before opening the season against the Yankees on April 4 at Fenway Park. The Bombers, for what it’s worth, are 8-11 this spring and been outscored by 28 runs. … Back in Fort Myers, Dustin Pedroia is expected to have an x-ray on his sore wrist while LHP Alan Embree will toss an inning in a minor-league game.

UPDATE, 9:58 p.m.: Reddick’s six doubles this spring are second in the Grapefruit League and tied for second overall among all AL hitters. He is in the top 10 in the Grapefruit League in hits (15), runs (9) and total bases (25).
