Game 11: Rays at Red Sox

Here are the lineups for the (sort of) second game of the night:

Bartlett SS
Crawford LF
Zobrist RF
Longoria 3B
Pena 1B
Upton CF
Burrell DH
Jaso C
Rodriguez 2B

Pitching: RHP James Shields (0-0, 3.97).

Scutaro SS
Pedroia 2B
Martinez C
Youkilis 1B
Ortiz DH
Lowell 3B
Drew RF
Cameron CF
Hermida LF

Pitching: RHP Clay Buchholz (1-0, 6.17).

Depleted ranks: The Sox will not have Jonathan Papelbon or Daniel Bard. Papelbon is with his wife after she gave birth to a child earlier today and Bard threw two innings in the completion of the suspended game.

Razed by the Rays: Tampa Bay is 20-17 against the Sox since the start of the 2008 season

Suffering the Sox: Shields is 3-7 with a 5.32 ERA against the Sox in his career. That includes an 0-6 record (and 8.04 ERA) at Fenway Park in six starts.

Youuuuuuuk: Kevin Youkilis has reached base in 20 consecutive games dating back to last season. It’s the second-longest streak of his career going back to 2008 when he reached safely in 44 straight.

Good company: Adrian Beltre needs one double to join Vladimir Guerrero as the only active players with 175 doubles and 100 home runs in each league.

Historically fast: Carl Crawford has stolen 55 bases against the Red Sox. Only Rickey Henderson (89) and Bert Campaneris (63) have had more. Crawford is 55 of 59 and has swiped 28 in a row successfully.

The Buch stops too often: By the time it has taken you to read this far, that’s how long it took Buchholz to throw some pitches against Kansas City last Sunday. Keep an eye on his pace and rhythm. The Sox are after him to work more quickly and not get so unnerved when runners get on base.

Back with more later on.
