Extra Bases

Meanwhile, back at the game …

It was 1-1 before the umpires called the delay last night. It was the middle of the ninth inning.

Jonathan Papelbon remains in the game as the pitcher for the Red Sox. The Rays had already entered righthander Lance Cormier into the game.

The Sox have David Ortiz at the plate with Adrian Beltre on deck and Jeremy Hermida to follow.

A few interesting aspects:

* Papelbon might not have come back out for a second inning last night. But he certainly could today.

* The Sox were not going to use Mike Cameron last night, but he’ll be cleared to play today. Bill Hall is due up fourth in the inning. Cameron could hit for him or go into play center for the the 10th inning if it comes to that.

* Mike Lowell and Victor Martinez are still eligible to come into the game.

Many machinations to consider. We’ll back later with a report from the clubhouse. Stay with Extra Bases for what could be a long day of baseball.

The tarp is down at Fenway but it’s not raining at the moment.

Just a reminder: If you had a ticket for last night’s game, it is NOT GOOD for today’s suspended game or the regularly scheduled game. The only tickets valid today are for the regularly scheduled game on Saturday.
