You have to go way back to 1996 to find a Red Sox team that got off to worse start after 12 games than the current edition.
The 1996 crew was 2-10 under Kevin Kennedy en route to 85 wins and third place. That team was led by Hit Dog Mo Vaughn and actually got a decent season out of Jose Canseco.
Roger Clemens was in the twilight of his career and all manner of characters started games including Nate Minchey and Mike (brother of Greg) Maddux.
Kennedy was canned after the season.
Tim Wakefield, of course, is the only player still around.
