Most everybody who likes baseball believes deep in their heart that they could manage a big league team.
We all make lineups up in our heads or watch games and try to guess who will be the next pitcher to come in or whether the runner should try and steal.
But when you watch what the Red Sox have gone through the last eight days, your realize that Terry Francona earns every cent he gets paid.
The Sox have won six of their last eight games, every single one of them by one run. That hasn’t happened since 1943. Over those eight games, the Sox have scored 47 runs and their opponents 45.
In other words, every at-bat and every pitch of every game has been critical.
At 10-11, the Sox are tied for third place thanks to their little run and are only three games behind the second-place Yankees.
Hey, you have to start somewhere.
Thanks to everybody for reading the blog tonight. It’s much appreciated. How do you feel about the Sox now?
