Let’s see. This game had:
* 399 pitches
* 34 hits
* 12 extra-base hits
* 8 walks
* 18 runners left on base
* 11 pitching changes
* 34 at-bats with runners in scoring position
And ultimately 25 runs scored. Terry Francona looked exhausted afterward and he didn’t play. The clubhouse was almost somber. The last five victories for the Sox have been one-run games and it’s draining to play those type of games every day.
This stretch is similar to what you sometimes see in August, not April. But the Sox need to grind these games out and stay in the mix. Once this road trip against the Blue Jays and Orioles is over, the seven games at home will be against the Angels and Yankees.
Finally, thanks to everybody to commented on the game post tonight and/or sent e-mails. It’s fun to write for fans who love the game.
If you haven’t joined in during games, give it a shot. Lots of good baseball talk in there.
