Mike Cameron was 3 for 5 with two runs scored and a walk-off home run in the 10th inning today in Portland as the Sea Dogs beat the Trenton Thunder 7-6.
Cameron is at .333/.406/.778 in eight minor league games. Unless the Red Sox are intent on his winning Eastern League Player of the Month honors, he may be ready to be activated off the disabled list.
We should find out more tomorrow.
(Yes, that’s Cam in a Pawtucket Red Sox hat).
UPDATE, 9:08 p.m.: Great comment from a reader in this post I wanted to share with you:
From madshel: He was not scheduled to play in either game of the doubleheader, but Mike Cameron was in Portland on Saturday.
An hour before most games, the Sea Dogs make a player available for autographs. On Saturday, the player was Mike Cameron. He was so kind, taking time to talk to each person, pose for photographs, and sign whatever. What a class act.
That’s pretty good. Mike has no obligation to even be in Portland, never mind sign autographs. That’s being a good guy.
