Manny Delcarmen just told reporters that he is having issues with his right elbow and will see the doctor on Friday.
That likely explains that why in his last three outings, he has faced 14 batters and gotten three of them out. Delcarmen’s line: 1 IP, 9 H, 9 ER, 2 BB, 0 K.
“My elbow, a little bit,” Delcarmen said. “I think it’s something in my forearm. It’s been for like a week. It’s been getting better every day, just having a little trouble getting extension on the ball. So I’m going to see how the day off goes, and see how I feel on Friday.”
Terry Francona spoke about Delcarmen having trouble with arm extension and said they would keep getting him looked at.
Delcarmen hit 95 several times today, so he didn’t blow it out. But clearly something is going on. He’s had Tommy John surgery already, so a second elbow issue is worrisome. Once again, it’s wait for the MRI time.
In terms of J.D. Drew, Francona said the right fielder had a “real stiff” neck. It started on Tuesday night. “Actually, as the day progressed it got worse,” the manager said.
Another game, two more injuries. It never seems to end.
