Rehab updates from the minors

Manny Delcarmen faced three hitters in the first inning and retired them all on grounders after throwing first-pitch strikes. He threw nine pitches for Double A Portland in New Britain. One of the guys he retired was Alexi Casilla, who is rehabbing for the Twins.

Jeremy Hermida was 2 for 4 with a double and a single. He lined out in his first at-bat then flew to center in his second before collecting two hits.

Delcarmen could be back on the roster for the Sox as soon as Saturday, if not tomorrow. Hermida will stay with the Sea Dogs for two more days then get checked out on Sunday.

(Thanks to my man Joe D’Ambrosio of WTIC in Hartford for the info. Joe D is the voice of the UConn Huskies and calls some New Britain games in the summer.)

In Syracuse, Jed Lowrie went 1 for 4 with a double, a run scored and one RBI for Pawtucket.
