If you are even a casual Red Sox fan, you surely know of The Jimmy Fund and the great work those folks do helping people, especially kids, fight cancer.
If you don’t, head on over to jimmyfund.org to learn more.
The annual WEEI and NESN Radio-Telethon ends at midnight tonight and the hope is to raise $5 million.
Times are tough for a lot of people. But there are always those less fortunate and anything you can do would be appreciated. If everybody who reads Extra Bases kicked in a few bucks, we could help make a difference.
A big part of the reason I came back to Massachusetts was to spend more time with my 10-year-old niece and 5-year-old nephew. Giving to The Jimmy Fund feels like the right thing to do. Trust me when I tell you, you’ll good about it.
There are several ways you can contribute:
* Call 1-877-738-1234
* You can donate on-line
* Or you can text the word KCancer to 20222 to donate $10.00.
Virtually every Red Sox player, going back to Ted Williams, has helped this cause. Even George Steinbrenner used to call in a pledge every year. This is one team we should all join.
So what do you say, readers of Extra Bases? I just sent in a contribution and I hope you do, too. If you do, throw a comment on the blog to let us know. Just who you are and where you’re from will suffice. Maybe we can start a little something and do a good thing.
I hope all the regulars here will do their part. Let’s hear from you.
