Thanks to the data available at BrooksBaseball.net here is how Phil Cuzzi called the 30 pitches thrown by Jonathan Papelbon last night:
Basically, he called balls on seven pitches that were strikes. But then he also called four pitches strikes that were balls. A couple were borderline.
Obviously Cuzzi had a rough ninth inning. But Papelbon also has been in the game long enough to know that is going to happen on occasion. He needs to handle it better than he did.
I would imagine that Papelbon will be hearing from MLB some time soon about his comments.
