Ran into former Sox lefty Frank Viola, who said he interviewed for the Lowell Spinners job but didn’t get it. He’s here doing work for a local Orlando media outlet and also trying to look for a minor league pitching coach job.
Rick Peterson, let go by the Milwaukee Brewers when new manager Ron Roenicke took over for Ken Macha, was also at the meetings trying to meet with teams. Amazing that a pitching coach with Peterson’s resume is out of work.
Bobby Kielty, who hit the game-wining homer in Game 4 of the 2007 World Series over Colorado, is trying to meet with teams to make a comeback. The 34-year-old outfielder went through an injury stage which hurt his career, but feels healthy enough now to comeback.
