FORT MYERS, Fla. — Mike Cameron was a quotable dude today. His best:
On his new role: “I’m for everything, man. I’ve got every tool in the bag.”
When asked what impact Carl Crawford will have on the team: “Carl? About damn near $200 million dollars.”
On playing last season with a sports hernia and groin tears: “I played a hell of a baseball with no guts.”
All you need to know about Mike’s character is that he helped the Red Sox recruit Carl Crawford and he has taken it upon himself to help Crawford’s transition to the team. Not too many big leaguers would help pursue the guy who knocks them out of the lineup then make them feel so welcome.
“This is a good guy right here,” Crawford told me, pointing at Cameron.
