Pimentel retired the side in order. Smith ripped a ball down the line at third but Youkilis made a diving stop and a strong throw to first. Yep, he likes it there a lot. Prohovich fanned to end the inning. This is a seven-inning game, by the way.

First pitch was at 1:06 p.m. and it was a called strike by Stolmy Pimentel, who went on to strike out Marc Perdios. The stands are not close to full.

Pre-game: Good afternoon from City of Palms Park, where it’s a lovely 79 degrees and sunny. Stay with Extra Bases as we give you updates on today’s game. The teams are warming up now.

Just FYI: The media is allowed into the clubhouse during spring training games to interview the starters when then come out of the game. The players don’t hang around until the end of games in spring training.

So if the blog isn’t updated for a bit, that’s why. Plus the score of exhibition games isn’t really important.

Updates to come.
