Red Sox roster updates

FORT MYERS, Fla. — You can add Ryan Kalish to the list of players optioned to Pawtucket. Andrew Miller was reassigned to AAA, too.

Meanwhile, Terry Francona basically said that Tim Wakefield is on the staff as he listed Alfredo Aceves, Matt Albers, Hideki Okajima and Dennys Reyes as the contenders for the final two spots on the pitching staff.

Felix Doubront remains in camp as well but has yet to pitch in a major-league game. The team is in the process of figuring out whether he will start the season in extended spring training or with a minor league team. He is scheduled to pitch in relief on Tuesday.

In terms of other news:

• Jon Lester will not start against Baltimore on Sunday in Sarasota. He will pitch in a minor league game instead with Jason Varitek catching him. Brandon Duckworth will start and throw two innings against the Birds.

• Kevin Youkilis will skip the trip to Dunedin on Monday and get some at-bats in a minor league game.

• Francona said again that Drew Sutton and Nate Spears have been told they’ll be reassigned to Pawtucket but will remain with the team and travel to Houston for the game on Wednesday.

• Shockingly, it appears Red Sox castoff Gustavo Molina could make the Yankees as the backup to Russell Martin.
