A history lesson for despondent Red Sox fans from . . . the Yankees?

DALLAS — It’s interesting to note at this, Red Sox Nation’s hour of need, that you need only to turn your lonely eyes to the Bronx for solace.

The 1998 Yankees won 114 games and the World Series that season. Guess what? They were 0-3 to start the season, getting outscored 21-6 by Oakland and Anaheim. After a 1-4 start, they went 113-44.

Nobody is projecting the Sox for 114 wins. The point is that even a great team can stumble out of the gate. That doesn’t mean you panic.

Off to Cleveland. Catch you later on.
