Cubs release Max Ramirez

The Cubs released catcher Max Ramirez today. He was 8 of 34 (.235) in 11 games for Triple A Iowa.

The Red Sox claimed Ramirez off waivers from the Rangers on Jan. 5 and then lost him on waivers to the Cubs on Jan. 11.

Ramirez was the player the Red Sox obtained from the Rangers for Mike Lowell at the 2009 Winter Meetings, but the trade was rescinded when Lowell failed his physical.
