Daisuke Matsuzaka has not yet been placed on the disabled list. But it sure sounds like he’s headed in that direction.
The righthander was sent for an MRI today on his elbow.
“It has not been ready yet. We don’t really have much to discuss,” Terry Francona said a few minutes ago. “We’re talking about his elbow. Whether it’s sore or whether he’s afraid to get to a point where it will get sore, we’re trying to figure it out.”
Francona said at 4:05 p.m. he hoped to have more information in an hour or so.
Matsuzaka was strong in back-to-back starts against the Blue Jays and Angels in April, throwing 15 shutout innings. He has pitched poorly since, allowing 12 runs on 16 hits and 14 walks over 15.1 innings. He left his start on start on April 29 because of a tight elbow.
As for the weather, all I can tell you is the tarp is on the field but the Red Sox are preparing to open the gates. If you’re on your way to Fenway, bring plenty of cold and rain gear.
No lineup for the Orioles yet. They have some roster moves coming apparently.
