The Red Sox made a few significant moves in the minors today involving outfielders.
The defensively gifted Che-Hsuan Lin was promoted from Class AA Portland to Class AAA Pawtucket. Speedy Jeremy Hazelbaker moved up from Class A Salem to Portland.
Bryce Brentz, who has been tearing up the South Atlantic League at Greenville, has been assigned to Salem. Henry Ramos was moved to Greenville from extended spring training.
Hazelbaker was a fourth-round pick in 2009 who stole 63 bases last season for Greenville. He made the jump to Portland after only 34 games at Salem, where he hit .274 with an .864 OPS.
Brentz was the 36th overall pick of the 2010 draft. He mashed at Greenville (.359/.414/.647). Ramos was a fifth-round pick in 2010 and is very athletically gifted. Lin has been with the Sox since 2007 when he signed out of Taiwan. He has improved steadily in his five seasons.
