ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A few days ago, we pointed out here that the Yankees had hit the tough part of their schedule and the Red Sox could take advantage of that.
Sure enough, the Yankees have lost three in a row and will have their hands full with Dan Haren in Anaheim tonight, albeit with CC Sabathia on the mound.
But the Zombie Red Sox also have lost three in a row (and seven of nine) to remain in second place.
Plenty can and will happen between now and the end of the season. But the Sox are kicking away home field advantage. They end the season with six road games then could have to fly somewhere for a workout and two more games. That doesn’t seem very advantageous.
