Gonzalez (left calf) is day to day

Adrian Gonzalez left today’s game with a tight left calf after hitting a solo home run in the sixth inning. He said the injury occurred earlier in the game when he grounded to second.

“I was rounding the bases it got worse. They didn’t want me to keep going out there and making it worse. Better to play it safe than sorry,” he said.

Terry Francona is hopeful that Gonzalez will play tomorrow night. He improved after leaving the game.

“I don’t think this is anything that’s going to linger,” the manager said.
