Notes: The Sox, Yankees, Giants, Braves and Twins are the only winless teams in baseball. … The Sox were 10-8 against Toronto last season, outscoring the Jays 137-77. … The Red Sox bullpen has allowed 10 earned runs on 18 hits in 11.1 innings. … The Sox have dropped 23 of their last 30 games going back to last season. … This note from the Red Sox: Franklin Morales, who threw two scoreless innings of relief on Sunday, has not allowed a run in his last 19 road games (going back to June 28, 2011). That’s the most consecutive scoreless outings on the road ever by a Red Sox lefthander.

Big day in Carabobo: What is Carabobo, you ask? It’s one of the 23 states in Venezuela and where both Doubront, 24, and Alvarez, 21, are from. It’s in the northern part of the country. The Red Sox signed Doubront out of Carabobo in 2005 and the Jays signed Alvarez in 2006. Doubront is making his first start since July 16, 2010. He made three starts that season, none since. He has thrown 5.1 innings against Toronto in his career. Alvarez threw six shutout innings against the Sox in a start last Sept. 5.
